Bobcat Stadium (Texas State)
Bobcat Stadium is a 16,008-seat multi-purpose stadium in San Marcos, Texas. It opened in 1981 and is home to the Texas State University Bobcats football team. It was also home of the San Antonio Riders of the World League of American Football. In 2002 the football field was renamed Jim Wacker Field at Bobcat Stadium in honor of the former Texas State University football coach and director of athletics.
Expansion
The capacity grew to over 16,000 at the beginning of the 2009 football season with the completion of the first phase of a multi-phased expansion. This first phase added a three-tier structure (by adding on to the existing home side) that includes new premium club seating, with 450 seats, and fifteen luxury suites. Major funding came from a donation by Texas State (SWT) alums Jerry & Linda Fields. This is now named "The Jerry and Linda Fields West Side Complex."[2]
Bobcat Stadium is currently undergoing construction at the North Side Complex. Once complete, the seating capacity will be around 30,000.[3] The North Side expansion will feature a Bookstore Fan Shop, and Strutters Gallery. [4]
